The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Recite: In the Name of thy Lord who created, 1 Hath created man from a clot! 2 Recite: And thy Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 Taught man what he did not know. 5 No! [But] indeed, man transgresses 6 Because he sees himself free from want. 7 However, (all things) will return to your Lord. 8 Have you seen one who prevents 9 a worshiper when he prays. 10 Have you seen if he is upon guidance 11 and enjoins piety? 12 Hast thou seen if he denieth (Allah's guidance) and is froward? 13 Did he not know that God sees? 14 Indeed, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock, 15 by the lying forelock steeped in sin. 16 Let him call on his associates for help 17 We will call on the angels of punishment (to deal with him)! 18 Nay, Obey not thou him. But prostrate thyself, and draw near (unto Allah). ۩ 19
