The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
THE HOUR HAS come and split is the moon. 1 And if they behold a sign, they turn away and say: magic continuous 2 They also gave the lie to (the splitting asunder of the moon) and only followed their desires. Yet everything is destined to reach an end. 3 And there have come to them such tidings as contain a deterrent -- 4 Perfect wisdom (this Quran), but (the preaching of) warners benefit them not, 5 So turn away from them, (O Prophet). On the Day when a caller shall call them to a thing most terrible, 6 They will come forth, with humbled eyes from (their) graves as if they were locusts spread abroad, 7 They shall be hurrying forth towards the caller, and the unbelievers (who had once denied this Day), will say: “This is a woeful Day.” 8 ۞ Before them the people of Nuh rejected, so they rejected Our servant and called (him) mad, and he was driven away. 9 So he invoked his Lord, "Indeed, I am overpowered, so help." 10 We opened the gates of the sky and water started to pour down. 11 And We made the earth break forth with springs; so that the water met for an affair already decreed. 12 but him We bore on that [vessel] made of [mere] planks and nails, 13 Which sailed right under Our eyes: A recompense for him who had been denied. 14 And We left it as a sign. Is there anyone who will be warned? 15 How was then My punishment and My commination! 16 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember! 17 'Ad also gave the lie (to Hud). So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 18 Verily, We sent against them a furious wind of harsh voice on a day of evil omen and continuous calamity. 19 Smashing down men as if they were uprooted trunks of date palms. 20 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 21 And We have indeed made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 22
