Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The true event! 1 and what is the Resurrection Verifier? 2 And what will make you know what the Reality is? 3 The Thamud and 'Ad denied the consequential calamity. 4 So destroyed were the Thamud by a storm of thunder and lightning; 5 And as for A’ad, they were destroyed by a severe thundering windstorm. 6 which He willed against them for seven nights and eight days without cease, so that in the end thou couldst see those people laid low [in death,] as though they were so many [uprooted] trunks of hollow palm trees: 7 Do you then see of them one remaining? 8 Then came the Pharaoh, and those before him whose habitations were overthrown while they were committing crimes. 9 and rebelled against their Sustainer's apostles: and so He took them to task with a punishing grasp exceedingly severe! 10 We, when the water (of Noah's Flood) overflowed beyond its limits, carried you (mankind), in the floating (Ark), 11 so that We might make it an instructive event for you, and retentive ears might preserve its memory. 12 When the single blast is sounded on the trumpet, 13 And the earth and mountains heaved and crushed to powder with one levelling blow, 14 So that is the day when the forthcoming event will occur. 15 And the heaven shall be rent in sunder, it on that Day shall be frail. 16 And the angels will be on its sides, and eight angels will, that Day, bear the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 That Day shall ye be brought to Judgment: not an act of yours that ye hide will be hidden. 18 Then, as for him who is given his record in his right hand, he will say: Take, read my book! 19 "I did really understand that my Account would (One Day) reach me!" 20 So he shall be in a life of pleasure, 21 In an elevated garden, 22 its clusters nigh to gather. 23 (And it will be said unto those therein): Eat and drink at ease for that which ye sent on before you in past days. 24 But as for him who is given his book in his left hand, he shall say, 'Would that I had not been given my book 25 And not known my account! 26 "Ah! Would that (Death) had made an end of me! 27 My wealth has been of no use to me. 28 [and] all my power of argument has died away from me!" 29 Lay hold on him, then put a chain on him, 30 then cast him in the Fire, 31 then in a chain seventy arm's lengths long insert him. 32 He did not believe in God the supreme, 33 and did not feel any urge to feed the needy: 34 Wherefore for him here this Day there is no friend. 35 Nor any food except filth from the washing of wounds, 36 which no one will eat except the sinners. 37
