He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 To him you give attention. 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 and in awe of God 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 and angelic scribes. 16 Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! 17 From what has God created him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 And We split the earth in fragments, 26 And We made corn grow, 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 And fruits and grass, 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 his wife and his children. 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
