Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 In a lofty garden, 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 well arranged goblets, 14 and arranged cushions 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
