The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 The night a covering, 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 a resort for the rebellious; 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 a fitting requital, 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
