The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
CONSIDER those [stars] that rise only to set, 1 and move [in their orbits] with steady motion, 2 And by those who float in space, 3 by those that outstrip them suddenly, 4 And those who govern the event, 5 On the day when the first trumpet sound blasts 6 to be followed by further [convulsions], 7 On that Day some hearts shall tremble (with fright), 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 They say: "Shall we go back to our original state 10 What, when we are bones old and wasted?' 11 They say: "Then this returning will be a dead loss." 12 But verily, it will be but a single (Compelling) Cry, 13 and behold! They will all come out in the open. 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 Behold, thy Lord did call to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa:- 16 and directed him: “Go to Pharaoh, he has rebelled, 17 Then say thou: wouldst thou to be purified? 18 And I will guide you to your Lord so that you should fear. 19 And he showed him the tremendous token. 20 but he belied and disobeyed, 21 Then he turned back striving. 22 Then gathered he and summoned 23 and proclaimed, and he said, 'I am your Lord, the Most High!' 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 Lo! herein is indeed a lesson for him who feareth. 26
