And to the Thamud [We sent] their brother Salih. He said, "O my people, worship Allah; you have no deity other than Him. There has come to you clear evidence from your Lord. This is the she-camel of Allah [sent] to you as a sign. So leave her to eat within Allah 's land and do not touch her with harm, lest there seize you a painful punishment. 73 Remember, that He has made you the successor of 'Aad, and lodged you in the land. You have built palaces on its plains and hewed out houses in the mountains. Remember the favor of Allah and do not act mischievously in the earth, corrupting' 74 The proud assembly of his nation said to the weak? amongst them who believed: 'Do you really believe that Salih is sent from his Lord' They answered: 'We believe in that with which he was sent' 75 Those who were arrogant said: "Verily, we disbelieve in that which you believe in." 76 They then slew the camel and rebelled against the orders of their Lord saying, " Salih, if you are truly a Messenger, let that torment with which you have threatened us come to pass." 77 Thereupon an earthquake overtook them: and then they lay lifeless, in their very homes, on the ground. 78 And [Salih] turned away from them, and said: "O my people! Indeed, I delivered unto you my Sustainer's message and gave you good advice: but you did not love those who gave [you] good advice." 79 And (We sent) Lut when he said to his people: What! do you commit an indecency which any one in the world has not done before you? 80 You engage in lustful activities with people instead of women. You have become transgressing people. 81 And the answer of his people was only that they said: "Drive them out of your town, these are indeed men who want to be pure (from sins)!" 82 But we saved him and his family, except his wife: she was of those who legged behind. 83 We sent a torrential rain unto the (unbelievers). Consider how disastrous the end of the criminals was! 84
