(Muhammad), have you ever seen the one who has turned away (from guidance), 33 and gives so little [of himself for the good of his soul,] and so grudgingly? 34 What! Has he knowledge of the Unseen so that he can see? 35 Has he not been made acquainted with what was written in the scriptures of Moses? 36 and of Abraham, who to his trust was true: 37 That no laden one shall bear another's load, 38 and that man shall have only that for which he strives; 39 and that in time [the nature of] all his striving will be shown [to him in its true light,] 40 Then he will be recompensed for it with the fullest recompense 41 And that to your Lord (Allah) is the End (Return of everything). 42 And that it is He who makes [one] laugh and weep 43 and that it is He who causes to die, and causes to live 44 And that He createth the two spouses, the male and the female, 45 From a sperm-drop when it is emitted 46 And that He hath ordained the second bringing forth; 47 That it is He who makes you rich and contented; 48 and that it is He who is the Lord of Sirius, 49 That it was He who destroyed the 'Ad of old, 50 and Thamood, sparing no one, 51 as well as the people of Noah before them - [since,] verily, they all had been most willful in their evildoing and most overweening 52 and He overthrew the subverted cities [of Sodom and Gomorrah] 53 So that there covered them that which did cover. 54 So O listener! Which favour of your Lord will you doubt? 55 This is a warner of the warners of old. 56 The Day of Resurrection draws near, 57 Of it, [from those] besides Allah, there is no remover. 58 Do you then find these tidings strange? 59 And keep laughing and do not weep, 60 Will you remain proudly heedless? 61 Prostrate yourselves before God, and worship Him alone! ۩ 62
