Samood rejected the warning. 23 And said: "Should we follow only one man among us? In that case we shall be in error and insane." 24 Was he the one of all of us to have been given the exposition? He is surely an impudent liar." 25 (We told Salih), "Tomorrow they will know who is the most arrogant liar. 26 Verily We are sending the she-camel as a test for them, so watch them thou and have patience. 27 And tell them that the water [of the well] is to be divided between them, and that each one should drink in turn." 28 But they called their companion, and he dared and hamstrung [her]. 29 Then, how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 30 Then We sent a single blast against them and they became like dry stubble which has been trampled upon. 31 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 32 The nation of Lot belied Our warnings. 33 and behold, We let loose upon them a tempest which rained stones upon them, except upon Lot's household whom We rescued in the last hours of the night 34 As a Grace from Us: thus do We reward those who give thanks. 35 Surely Lot warned his people that We shall seize them (with Our chastisement), but they doubted the warnings. 36 And they even sought to snatch away his guests from him, but We blinded their eyes. (They heard:) "Now taste ye My Wrath and My Warning." 37 and early in the morning the punishment decreed overtook them -- 38 So taste My chastisement and My warning. 39 We have made it easy indeed to learn lessons from the Quran.
