By the moon, 32 By the receding night 33 And by the dawn when it brightens, 34 surely it is one of the greatest things 35 a warning to mortal man 36 For the one among you who wishes to come forward or stay back. 37 Every soul shall be pledged for what it has earned, 38 Except those of the right hand 39 who shall be in the Gardens, and shall ask 40 From the guilty. 41 "What has caused you to enter Hell?" 42 They shall say: We were not of those who prayed; 43 and we did not feed the poor; 44 and we were wont to indulge in sinning together with all [the others] who indulged in it; 45 And we used to call the day of judgment a lie; 46 until death approached us". 47 Then the intercession of the intercessors shall not profit them. 48 What is the matter with people that they are turning away from this Exhortation, 49 As though they were asses startled. 50 fleeing before a lion? 51 Nay, every man of them desires to be -- given -- scrolls unrolled. 52 Nay, but they do not [believe in and hence, do not] fear the life to come. 53 but this is truly a reminder. 54 So, whoever wills, will remember it. 55 But they will not remember except as God wills: He is worthy to be feared, and He is worthy of forgiving 56
