۞ (And it is said unto the angels): Assemble those who did wrong, together with their wives and what they used to worship 22 apart from Allah, and direct them to the path of Hell, 23 And stop them, for they shall be questioned: 24 What aileth you that ye help not one another? 25 Nay, but on that Day they would willingly surrender [to God]; 26 but [since it will be too late,] they will turn upon one another, demanding of each other [to relieve them of the burden of their past sins]. 27 They will say, "You used to come at us from the right." 28 But they reply: 'Rather, you were not believers. 29 we had no authority over you; no, you were an insolent people. 30 and so we became deserving of the Word of our Lord that we shall be made to suffer chastisement. 31 Therefore we perverted you, and we ourselves were perverts.' 32 On that Day they will all share the punishment: 33 As such We shall deal with the evildoers. 34 For when it was said unto them, There is no Allah save Allah, they were scornful 35 saying, 'What, shall we forsake our gods for a poet possessed?' 36 Nay! he (Muhammad SAW) has come with the truth (i.e. Allah's Religion - Islamic Monotheism and this Quran) and he confirms the Messengers (before him who brought Allah's religion - Islamic Monotheism). 37 You will indeed taste a painful punishment, 38 And ye shall be required not except for that which ye have been doing; 39 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 40 there is waiting for them a known provision; 41 Fruits (Delights); and they (shall enjoy) honour and dignity, 42 (They will live) in the bountiful gardens, 43 Facing one another on thrones, 44 a cup filled with wine from its springs, will be passed around to them; 45 clear, delightful to those who drink it: 46 but not harmful or intoxicating. 47 Theirs shall be wide-eyed maidens with bashful, restrained glances, 48 who are as chaste as sheltered eggs. 49 And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other. 50 One of them says, 'I had a comrade 51 Who said: art thou of those who confess to the doctrine of Resurrection: 52 What, when we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we indeed be requited?" 53 He will say, "Would you [care to] look?" 54 Then he will look and see him in the midst of the Fire. 55 And he will say: by Allah, thou hadst wellnigh causedest me to perish. 56 Had I not the guidance of my Lord, I would certainly have been brought into torment". 57 Are we then not to die 58 except our first death, and shall we not be punished' 59 Verily this! that is the supreme achievement. 60 for which one must strive hard. 61 Is that (Paradise) better entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum (a horrible tree in Hell)? 62 We have appointed it as a trial for the evildoers. 63 for, behold, it is a tree that grows in the very heart of the blazing fire [of hell,] 64 its fruit [as repulsive] as satans' heads; 65 And verily they must eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 Then on top of that they will be given a mixture made of boiling water. 67 Then thereafter, verily, their return is to the flaming fire of Hell. 68 They had found their fathers astray, 69 So they hastened [to follow] in their footsteps. 70 And truly before them, many of the ancients went astray;- 71 And We had already sent among them warners. 72 Therefore see what sort of fate befell those who were warned! 73 Other than the chosen creatures of God. 74
