Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Ha, Meem. 1 A sending down from the Merciful, the Compassionate. 2 A Book whose verses have been detailed, an Arabic Qur'an for a people who know, 3 Giving glad tidings and heralding warning; so most of them turned away, therefore they cannot listen (to the truth). 4 And they say: our hearts are under veils from that whereunto thou callest us, and in our ears there is heaviness, and betwixt us and thee there is a curtain; work thou then, verily we are workers. 5 Say: "I am a man like you, (but) it is revealed to me that your God is one God, so take the straight path to Him, and ask Him to forgive your sins. Woe to the idolaters 6 who pay not the alms, and disbelieve in the world to come. 7 Indeed, those who believe and do righteous deeds - for them is a reward uninterrupted. 8
