The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
