There is a sign for them in the lifeless earth. We revive it and We produce grain from it of which they eat. 33 And We have placed therein gardens of the date-palm and grapes, and We have caused springs of water to gush forth therein, 34 so that they may consume the fruits and whatever their hands prepare. Will they not then be grateful? 35 Glory be to Him Who created pairs of all things, of what the earth grows, and of their kind and of what they do not know. 36 And a sign for them is the night. We remove from it [the light of] day, so they are [left] in darkness. 37 And [they have a sign in] the sun: it runs in an orbit of its own [and] that is laid down by the will of the Almighty, the All-Knowing; 38 And the moon, We have measured for it mansions (to traverse) till it returns like the old dried curved date stalk. 39 Neither is it allowable to the sun that it should overtake the moon, nor can the night outstrip the day; and all float on in a sphere. 40 And a sign for them is that We carried their forefathers in a laden ship. 41 and then created for them other vessels like those on which they ride. 42 Should We so wish, We can drown them, and there will be none to heed their cries of distress, nor will they be rescued. 43 save as a mercy from Us, and enjoyment for a while. 44 When it is said to such people: “Guard yourselves against what is ahead of you and what has preceded you that mercy be shown to you” (they pay scant heed to it). 45 And whenever a sign comes to them from the signs of their Lord, they always turn away from it! 46 And when it is said to them: Spend out of what Allah has given you, those who disbelieve say to those who believe: Shall we feed him whom, if Allah please, He could feed? You are in naught but clear error. 47 And they say, "When is this promise, if you should be truthful?" 48 They await just one scream, which will overcome them while they are involved in worldly disputes. 49 And they will not be able to make a disposition, nor to their family they return. 50
