The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 and a few from later times. 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 And fruit of what they select 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 The reward for what they did. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 The Companions of the Right 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 and continuous shade, 30 And water everflowing. 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And carpets raised. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 and made them virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
