In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ya Seen. 1 By the Quran, full of wisdom, 2 verily, thou art indeed one of God's message-bearers, 3 on a straight path, 4 A revelation from the mighty, ever-merciful (God), 5 That thou mayst warn a folk whose fathers were not warned, so they are heedless. 6 Indeed, the word [of God's condemnation] is bound to come true against most of them: for they will not believe. 7 We have indeed put shackles around their necks reaching up to the chins, so they remain facing upwards. 8 and We have put a barrier before them and a barrier behind them, and have covered them up, so they are unable to see. 9 It is all the same for them whether you warn them or do not warn them for they shall not believe. 10 You can warn only those who would follow the Reminder and fear the Gracious God, unseen. Give them the good news of forgiveness and a noble reward. 11 It is We who bring the dead to life and records the deeds of human beings and their consequences (of continual effects). We keep everything recorded in an illustrious Book. 12

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
