The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ The Merciful 1 Taught the Qur'an, 2 He created man 3 He has imparted unto him articulate thought and speech. 4 The sun and the moon to a reckoning. 5 And the herbs and the trees do obeisance. 6 And Allah has raised the sky; and He has set the balance. 7 Do not transgress the scales. 8 So establish weight with justice and fall not short in the balance. 9 And the earth He laid [out] for the creatures. 10 On it are fruits and palm-trees with sheathed clusters [of dates], 11 and grains with their husk and fragrant plants. 12 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 13 He created man of a clay like the potter's, 14 and He created the jinn of a smokeless fire. 15 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 16 He is the Lord of the East and West through all seasons. 17 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 18 He has set two seas in motion that flow side by side together, 19 Between them is a barrier, which they do not overrun. 20 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 21 From both of them emerge pearl and coral. 22 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 23 And His are the lofty ships that sail like [floating] mountains through the seas. 24 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 25
