Noah (Nooh)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
We sent Noah to his people telling him, "Warn your people before a painful torment approaches them". 1 He said: 'My nation, I am a clear warner for you. 2 Worship God, have fear of Him and obey me. 3 That He may forgive you somewhat of your sins and respite you to an appointed term. Lo! the term of Allah, when it cometh, cannot be delayed, if ye but knew. 4 [And after a time, Noah] said: "O my Sustainer! Verily, I have been calling unto my people night and day 5 but my calling has only increased them in flight. 6 And every time I called them so that You might forgive them, they thrust their fingers into their ears and wrapped up their faces with their garments and obstinately clung to their attitude, and waxed very proud. 7 Then verily I have called unto them publicly 8 Then I announced to them and [also] confided to them secretly 9 "Saying, 'Ask forgiveness from your Lord; for He is Oft-Forgiving; 10 He will shower upon you heavenly blessings abundant, 11 and give to you wealth and sons, and provide you with gardens and rivers. 12 ‘What is the matter with you, that you do not desire honour from Allah?’ 13 seeing He created you by stages? 14 Behold ye not in what wise Allah hath created seven heavens in storeys. 15 and set the moon therein for a light and the sun for a lamp? 16 And Allah has caused you to grow from the earth a [progressive] growth. 17 and to it He will return you. Then, He will bring you forth. 18 "'And God has made the earth a wide expanse for you, 19 so that you walk in its spacious paths.' 20
