He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 As for him who thinks himself self-sufficient, 5 you attended to him, 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 and who has fear of God, 9 You neglect. 10 No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 noble and pious. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 Let man, then, consider [the sources of] his food: 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 And olives and date palms, 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
