The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
WOE UNTO THOSE who give short measure: 1 who, when people measure for them, take full measure, 2 And when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. 3 Do such (men) not consider that they will be raised again 4 for a great Day, 5 the Day when people will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Indeed the ledger of the wicked will be in (the lowest depths) Sijjin. 7 and what could make you understand what the Sijjin is? -- 8 A record of misdeeds written. 9 Woe on that Day to those who belied it, 10 Those who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 and none cries lies to it but every guilty aggressor. 12 Who, when thou readest unto him Our revelations, saith: (Mere) fables of the men of old. 13 No indeed! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. 14 Therefore they will be screened off from their Lord that day, 15 Then, verily they will indeed enter and taste the burning flame of Hell. 16 Further, it will be said to them: "This is the (reality) which ye rejected as false! 17 Nay! Most surely the record of the righteous shall be in the Iliyin. 18 and what shall teach thee what is Illiyun? 19 It is a (repository of) distinctly written record 20 To which bear witness those nearest (to Allah, i.e. the angels). 21 Verily the pious will be in heaven, 22 On couches, gazing, 23 Thou wilt recognize in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They will be served a drink of the finest sealed wine, 25 which have the fragrance of musk. This is the kind of place for which one should really aspire. 26 And admixture thereof will be Water of Tasnim: 27 A spring whence those brought near (to Allah) drink. 28 Verily! (During the worldly life) those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 And when they passed by them, they winked at one another. 30 And when they went back to their people turned to make fun of them; 31 And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost." 32 Whereas they were not sent over them as watchers. 33 But today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers; 34 Regarding them from their cushioned seats. 35 The infidels have indeed been rewarded for that which they had been doing. 36
