The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] - 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
