Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Ha'. Mim. 1 CONSIDER this divine writ, clear in itself and clearly showing the truth: 2 Verily We! We have made it an Arabic Qur'an that haply ye may reflect. 3 And Lo! in the Source of Decrees, which We possess, it is indeed sublime, decisive. 4 So shall We divert the advice away from you, because you are a nation that exceeds the limits? 5 How many a Prophet We sent among the ancients, 6 And never came there a prophet to them but they mocked him. 7 So We destroyed far more powerful (nations) than they. The example of earlier people is there. 8 And indeed if you ask them, "Who has created the heavens and the earth?" They will surely say: "The All-Mighty, the All-Knower created them." 9 He it is Who made this earth for you a cradle and made in it pathways for you that you may find the way to your destination; 10 And He Who sends down water from the cloud according to a measure, then We raise to life thereby a dead country, even thus shall you be brought forth; 11 He Who created all the pairs, and appointed for you ships and cattle whereupon ye ride. 12 so that perhaps when you ride them, you will recall the bounties of your Lord and when you establish your control over it you would say, "Glory belongs to Him who has made it subservient to us when we would not have been able to do so ourselves. 13 And verily, to Our Lord we indeed are to return! 14 Yet they have assigned to Him a part of His own servants! Man is dearly unthankful. 15
