The Embryo (Al-Alaq)

In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Read! In the name of your Lord, who created: 1 Created man from a clot. 2 Recite: and your Lord is Most Generous, 3 He Who taught (the use of) the pen,- 4 Hath taught man that which he knew not. 5 No! [But] indeed, man transgresses 6 that he sees himself sufficed. 7 Lo! unto thy Lord is the return. 8 Did you see him who forbids 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Do you think he is rightly guided, 11 Or enjoined guarding (against evil)? 12 Have you seen if he denies and turns away - 13 Does he not know that Allah sees everything? 14 Let him beware! If he does not desist, We will drag him by the forelock -- 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 So, let him call upon his way! 17 We will call the guards of Hell (to deal with him)! 18 No indeed! Do not obey him, but prostrate yourself and come closer to God. ۩ 19

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
