The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Woe unto the scrimpers: 1 Who, when they take a measure from people, take in full. 2 And who, when they measure unto them or weigh for them, diminish. 3 Do those not think that they shall be raised up 4 On a mighty Day. 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 Nay, but the record of the vile is in Sijjin - 7 What could let you know what the Sijjeen is! 8 A record [indelibly] inscribed! 9 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth 10 Who give the lie to the day of judgment. 11 And none deny it except every sinful transgressor. 12 When Our communications are recited to him, he says: Stories of those of yore. 13 No. In fact what they have been doing has rusted their hearts. 14 Nay! Surely, they (evil-doers) will be veiled from seeing their Lord that Day. 15 Then verily they will be roasted into the Scorch. 16 Then it shall be said to them, 'This is that you cried lies to.' 17 Nay, but the record of the righteous is in 'Illiyin - 18 And what can make you know what is 'illiyyun? 19 A written record, 20 To which bear witness those Nearest (to Allah). 21 Indeed the virtuous are in serenity. 22 upon couches gazing; 23 thou knowest in their faces the radiancy of bliss 24 They are given to drink of a pure wine, sealed, 25 The seal thereof will be of musk. And to this end let the aspirers aspire 26 and whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 a spring at which those drawn close to God will drink. 28 Indeed the guilty used to laugh at the believers. 29 And when they passed by them, they winked at one another. 30 And when they went back to their people turned to make fun of them; 31 and when they saw the believers, they said: “Lo! These are the erring ones”; 32 But they had not been sent as keepers over them! 33 So, the believers will laugh at the infidels on that day, 34 upon couches gazing. 35 Will not the infidels pay for what they had done? 36
