The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the Sun and his (glorious) splendour; 1 and by the moon as it follows it; 2 by the day when it brightens the earth, 3 and by the night as it envelopes the sun; 4 By the heaven and Him Who builded it, 5 by the earth and Who spread it, 6 And a soul and Him Who perfected it 7 And inspired in it the knowledge of its sins and its piety. 8 He who purifies it will indeed be successful, 9 and those who corrupt their souls will certainly be deprived (of happiness). 10 (The tribe of) Thamud denied (the truth) in their rebellious pride, 11 when the most wicked of them broke forth, 12 So Allah's apostle said to them (Leave alone) Allah's she-camel, and (give) her (to) drink. 13 But they rejected his statement as a lie and hamstrung the she-camel. For that crime their Lord rumbled down upon them, utterly razing them to the ground. 14 And for Him is no fear of its consequences. 15
Almighty God's Truth.
