Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 When he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said: we worship idols, and we are unto them ever devoted 71 He said, 'Do they hear you when you call, 72 'Can they benefit you or harm you' 73 They replied, "But we found our fathers doing the same." 74 He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping, 75 "Ye and your fathers before you?- 76 They are all enemies to me; all, except the Lord of the Universe 77 Who created me, then He has shown me the way: 78 He who gives me food and drink; 79 and, whenever I am sick, heals me, 80 “And He will give me death, then resurrect me.” 81 “And the One Who, upon Whom I pin my hopes, will forgive me my mistakes on the Day of Judgement.” 82 My Lord, give me judgment, and join me with the righteous. 83 Make my words come true in the future. 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Paradise of Delight; 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 Do not betray me 87 the Day when wealth and sons will be of no avail, 88 Save him who bringeth unto Allah a whole heart. 89 And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous. 90 and the Fire will be uncovered for those who strayed, 91 and they will be asked: "Where now is all that you were wont to worship 92 "'Besides Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?' 93 So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators 94 And the hosts of Iblis all together. 95 And there and then, blaming one another, they [who had grievously sinned in life] will exclaim: 96 'By God, we were certainly in manifest error 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of all Being. 98 And none has brought us into error except the Mujrimun [Iblis (Satan) and those of human beings who commit crimes, murderers, polytheists, oppressors, etc.]. 99 and we have no intercessors now, 100 "'Nor a single friend to feel (for us). 101 If we could only return to the world and be among the believers." 102 In all this, behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 103 Verily your Lord is mighty and merciful. 104
