Do those whose hearts are sick think that God will never make their malice public? 29 Had We so wiled, We could have shown them up to thee, and thou shouldst have known them by their marks: but surely thou wilt know them by the tone of their speech! And Allah knows all that ye do. 30 Without doubt We shall test you until We know those who struggle and are patient among you, and make clear your news. 31 Surely those who disbelieve and turn away from Allah's way and oppose the Apostle after that guidance has become clear to them cannot harm Allah in any way, and He will make null their deeds. 32 Believers, obey Allah and His Messenger and never let your labors go in vain! 33 ۞ Indeed those who disbelieved and prevented others from Allah’s way, and then died as disbelievers – so Allah will never forgive them. 34 So do not lose heart or appeal for peace when you have gained the upper hand. God is with you and will never let your works go to waste. 35 The worldly life is just a sport and pastime; and if you accept faith and be pious, He will bestow your rewards to you, and not at all ask you for your wealth. 36 Should He ask for your possessions you would be niggardly as it would be hard for you to give. Thus, He would make your malice become public. 37 It is you who are asked to spend for the cause of God, but some of you behave in a niggardly way. Whoever behaves miserly does so against his own soul. God is Self-sufficient and you are poor. If you were to turn away from Him, He would just replace you with another people, who will not be like you. 38
