The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 You will become three categories: 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 In gardens of delight; 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 And extended shade, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 and upraised couches. 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 chastely amorous, 37 For those on the right. 38
