Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O thou wrapped up in thy raiment! 1 Stand up for worship during the night, except for some part of it. 2 (Worship Him) for more or less than half of the night 3 or a little more, but recite the Quran slowly and distinctly. 4 Behold, We shall cast upon you a Weighty Word. 5 Surely getting up at night is the best means of subduing the self and is more suitable for uprightness in speech. 6 During the day, you are preoccupied with many activities. 7 Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Lord of the eastern and western regions, with due sincerity. 8 (He is) Lord of the East and the West: there is no god but He: take Him therefore for (thy) Disposer of Affairs. 9 and endure with patience whatever people may say [against thee,] and avoid them with a comely avoidance. 10 And leave them to Me – these wealthy deniers – and give them some respite. 11 We have heavy fetters and a blazing Fire in store for them; 12 And food that chokes, and a painful punishment. 13 (They will come across all this) on the Day when the earth and the mountains shall tremble violently and the mountains shall crumble into heaps of scattered sand. 14 Surely We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness over you, just as We had sent a Messenger to Pharaoh. 15 But Pharaoh disobeyed the messenger; so We seized him with a heavy Punishment. 16 If you disbelieve, how will you guard yourself against the Day that will make children gray haired, 17 The Day when the heavens will be rent asunder and God's promise shall be fulfilled. 18 Surely this is a Reminder; so let him who will take unto his Lord a way. 19
