The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 and the night as a cover, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
