He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 to a rich man, 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 and fears (Allah), 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 May man be slain – how ungrateful he is! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man, then, consider [the sources of] his food: 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 And caused to grow within it grain 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 and olives, and palms, 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 laughing, and rejoicing, 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
