The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ I do call to witness this City;- 1 For you (O dear Prophet Mohammed peace and blessings be upon him) are in this city. 2 And the begetter and that which he begat, 3 Verily We have created man into toil and hardship. 4 Does he think that never will anyone overcome him? 5 And he saith: I have destroyed vast wealth: 6 Does man think that no one saw him? 7 Have We not made for him a pair of eyes? 8 And a tongue and a pair of lips? 9 and shown him the two highways [of good and evil]? 10 Yet, he has not entered into Aqaba 11 And what shall make thee understand that which the steep is? 12 It is the setting free of a slave 13 or giving food on a day of hunger 14 Of a related orphan, 15 or to a needy person in distress; 16 And moreover to be of those who accepted faith, and who urged patience to one another and who urged graciousness to one another. 17 They are those on the Right Hand (the dwellers of Paradise), 18 And those who disbelieve Our signs - they are the fellows of the lefthand. 19 Upon them shall be a Fire that will hem them in. 20
God the Almighty always says the truth.
