The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)

286 verses, revealed in Medina after The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen) before The Spoils of War (Al-Anfaal)

In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful

Alif Lam Mim 1 There is no doubt that this book is a guide for the pious; 2 the pious who believe in the unseen, attend to prayer, give in charity part of what We have granted them; 3 who believe in what has been sent down to thee and what has been sent down before thee, and have faith in the Hereafter; 4 It is they who are on guidance from their Lord; and they are the successful. 5 As for those whose fate is disbelief, whether you warn them or do not warn them – it is all one for them; they will not believe. (Because their hearts are sealed – see next verse). 6 God has sealed their hearts and ears, and veiled their eyes. For them is great deprivation. 7
