Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Ha-Mim. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings.] 1 A revelation from the most benevolent, ever-merciful, 2 A Book, the verses of which are distinguished, an Arabic Koran for a nation who know. 3 Giving good news and admonition: yet most of them turn away, and so they hear not. 4 They say: "Our hearts are under veils, (concealed) from that to which thou dost invite us, and in our ears is a deafness, and between us and thee is a screen: so do thou (what thou wilt); for us, we shall do (what we will!)" 5 Say: 'I am only a mortal, like you are. To me it has been revealed that your God is One God; so go straight with Him, and ask for His forgiveness; and woe to the idolaters 6 who do not pay the zakat, and who deny the Hereafter. 7 Surely those who believe, and do righteous deeds shall have a wage unfailing.' 8
