In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read with the name of your Lord Who created, 1 created man out of a germ-cell 2 Recite! Your Lord is the most Honorable One, 3 who taught by the Pen, 4 taught man what he did not know! 5 And yet, but yet man is rebellious, 6 For he thinks he is sufficient in himself. 7 for, behold, unto thy Sustainer all must return. 8 Seest thou one who forbids- 9 a worshipper from praying? 10 Bethinkest thou, if he is himself guided, 11 He would enjoin piety, so how good it would be! 12 Hast thou seen if he denieth (Allah's guidance) and is froward? 13 Is he then unaware that Allah seeth? 14 No indeed; surely, if he gives not over, We shall seize him by the forelock, 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 and then let him summon [to his aid] the counsels of his own [spurious] wisdom, 17 We also shall call the infernal guards. 18 (Muhammad), never yield to him! Prostrate yourself and try to come closer to God. ۩ 19
