And when the envoys came to the family of Lot, 61 he said, "You are strangers [to me]." 62 They said: "Nay, we have brought to you that concerning which they have been in doubt. 63 "We have brought to thee that which is inevitably due, and assuredly we tell the truth. 64 So set out with your family during a portion of the night and follow behind them and let not anyone among you look back and continue on to where you are commanded." 65 And We made known to him this decree that the wrongdoers were to be utterly cut off in the morning. 66 And there came the people of the city rejoicing 67 rushed towards the house of Lot. Lot said to them, "These are my guests. Do not disgrace me. 68 and fear God, and do not degrade me.' 69 They said: "Did we not forbid thee (to speak) for all and sundry?" 70 He said: Here are my daughters, if ye must be doing (so). 71 By your life! In their drunkenness they were truly blind. 72 So the shriek seized them at sunrise. 73 And We utterly confounded them, and We rained upon them stones of heated clay. 74 Behold! in this are Signs for those who by tokens do understand. 75 surely it is on a way yet remaining; 76 Surely! Therein is indeed a sign for the believers. 77 And the companions of the thicket were [also] wrongdoers. 78 So We chastised them. The desolate locations of both communities lie on a well-known highway. 79

(1) وقف لازم، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي نقطة وقف. (2) وقف جائز مع الوقف أولى، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال الثلثين. When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
