Then, when the Messengers (the angels) came unto the family of Lout (Lot). 61 he said: "Behold, you are people unknown [here]!" 62 They said: "Nay, we have brought to you that concerning which they have been in doubt. 63 And we have come to you with truth, and indeed, we are truthful. 64 "Then travel by night with thy household, when a portion of the night (yet remains), and do thou bring up the rear: let no one amongst you look back, but pass on whither ye are ordered." 65 And We decreed for him that commandment, that the last remnant of those should be cut off in the morning. 66 And the people of the town came rejoicing. 67 and he told them, "These are my guests, so do not disgrace me. 68 "But fear Allah, and shame me not." 69 They replied: "Did we not forbid you again and again to extend hospitality to all and sundry?" 70 "Here are my daughters," said Lot, "if you are so active." 71 By your life, they wandered on in their wild intoxication 72 So the shriek seized them at sunrise. 73 And We turned the township upside down and rained upon them stones of heated clay. 74 In this there is evidence (of the Truth) for the prudent ones. 75 And surely it is on a road that still abides. 76 Lo! therein is indeed a portent for believers. 77 And the dwellers in the wood indeed were evil-doers. 78 So, We took vengeance on them. They are both on an open highway, plain to see. 79
