۞ Your Lord has ordered you to worship none except Him, and to be good to your parents. If either or both of them attain old age with you, do not say: "Fie on you", nor rebuke them, but speak to them with words of respect. 23 And lower to them the wing of humility out of mercy and say, "My Lord, have mercy upon them as they brought me up [when I was] small." 24 Your Lord is most knowing of what is within yourselves. If you should be righteous [in intention] - then indeed He is ever, to the often returning [to Him], Forgiving. 25 And give his due to the near of kin, as well as to the needy and the wayfarer, but do not squander [thy substance] senselessly. 26 for those who squander wastefully are Satan's brothers, and Satan is ever ungrateful to his Lord. 27 If you neglect (your parents) while seeking the bounty of your Lord, of which you are hopeful, speak to them softly. 28 And neither allow thy hand to remain shackled to thy neck, nor stretch it forth to the utmost limit [of thy capacity,] lest thou find thyself blamed [by thy dependants,] or even destitute. 29 Certainly your Lord provides with open hands whosoever He will, but according to capacity, for He knows and watches His creatures. 30
