The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ There hath approached unto mankind their reckoning, while they in neglect are turning away. 1 No recent revival of the remembrance comes to them from their Lord, except that they play with it as they listen 2 In sport being their hearts. And those who do wrong keep secret their private discourse this is but a human being like unto yourselves; will ye then betake yourselves to magic while ye know? 3 He saith: My Lord knoweth what is spoken in the heaven and the earth. He is the Hearer, the Knower. 4 Rather they said, “These are confused dreams, but in fact he has fabricated it – but in fact he is a poet; so he must bring us some sign, like those who were sent before.” 5 Not one of the communities that We destroyed in bygone times would ever believe [their prophets]: will these, then, [be more willing to] believe? 6 And We sent none before thee, but men to whom We made revelation -- question the People of the Remembrance, if you do not know -- 7 We gave them not bodies that would not eat food, nor were they immortals. 8 Then we fulfilled the promise unto them. So we delivered them and whom We would, and We destroyed the prodigals. 9 We have sent down to you a Book which has a reminder for you. Do you not understand? 10
