(Pharaoh) said to the Chiefs around him: "This is indeed a sorcerer well-versed: 34 who seeks to expel you from your land by his sorcery. What is your counsel' 35 They said: put off him and his brother, and send unto the cities callers. 36 Who will bring you every learned, skilled magician." 37 So the sorcerers were assembled at a fixed time on a day appointed. 38 and the people were asked: 'Will you gather 39 Belike we may follow the magicians if they are the winners? 40 Then, when the sorcerers came to Pharaoh, they said: 'Shall we receive a wage if we win' 41 He said, 'Yes indeed; and you shall then be among the near-stationed.' 42 Moses said to them: "Throw down whatever you wish to throw." 43 Then they cast their cords and their staves, and said: by the might of Fir'awn, verily we! we shall be the winners. 44 Then Musa cast down his staff, and lo! it swallowed up that which they had devised. 45 And down fell the sorcerers, prostrating themselves in adoration, 46 And said: "We (affirm and) believe in the Lord of all the worlds, 47 “The Lord of Moosa and Haroon.” 48 Pharaoh said, "Have you come to believe in him, before I have given you permission? He is surely your master who has taught you magic. But you shall see. I will cut off your hands and feet on alternate sides and crucify you all." 49 They said: "No harm! Surely, to our Lord (Allah) we are to return; 50 We certainly hope our Lord will forgive our sins as we are the first to believe." 51
