Relate the news of Abraham to them. 69 When he said to his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said: We worship idols, so we shall be their votaries. 71 'Do they hear you when you call on them' He asked. 72 Or do they benefit you, or do they harm?" 73 They said: Nay, but we found our fathers acting on this wise. 74 Said [Abraham]: "Have you, then, ever considered what it is that you have been worshipping 75 "Ye and your fathers before you?- 76 They are all enemies to me; all, except the Lord of the Universe 77 who created me; and He guides me, 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 and Who, when I am ill, heals me; 80 He will cause me to die and will bring me back to life. 81 And He Who, I long, shall forgive me my faults, on the Day of Requital. 82 My Lord! Bestow Hukman (religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 “And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations.” 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Delight, 85 Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray. 86 And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected; 87 "The Day whereon neither wealth nor sons will avail, 88 Unless it be he, who shall bring unto Allah a whole heart, 89 Paradise will be brought near those who take heed for themselves and follow the straight path; 90 And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators, 91 It will be said to them: 'Where is that you worshipped, 92 "'Besides Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?' 93 So they and all the astray were flung into hell. 94 And the hosts of the Shaitan, all. 95 And they will say, and they will be quarrelling in it: 96 they will say, "By God, we were in clear error 97 "'When we held you as equals with the Lord of the Worlds; 98 No one but the sinners led us astray. 99 We have no one to intercede for us before God 100 no caring friend. 101 "'Now if we only had a chance of return we shall truly be of those who believe!'" 102 Verily herein is a sign, but most of them are not believers. 103 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Ever Compassionate. 104
