He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 Yet for all thou didst know, [O Muhammad,] he might perhaps have grown in purity, 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 And he feareth 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 Then He eased the way for him; 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 And We made corn grow, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 Dust shall cover them 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
