The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
WHEN THE SUN is folded up, 1 And when the stars darken, 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 when the savage beasts shall be brought together, 5 and when the seas boil over, 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 when the buried female infant is asked 8 For what sin she was killed 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 the heavens are unveiled, 11 when Hell shall be set blazing, 12 when Paradise is brought close: 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 by the night when it approaches 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 Verily it is a Word brought by a messenger honoured, 19 The processor of strength, having an honorable place with the Lord of the Dominion, 20 who is obeyed there and is worthy of trust. 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 And indeed he saw him on the clear horizon. (Prophet Mohammed saw Angel Jibreel in his true shape – peace and blessings be upon them). 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of the cursed Shaitan, 25 Then where are you going? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 So let those who want, choose the right guidance 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
