The people of al-Hijr also rejected Our messengers: 80 We brought them signs, but they turned away. 81 They carved out dwellings in the mountains, and lived in security -- 82 An explosion struck them in the morning. 83 And all that which they used to earn availed them not. 84 We have created the heavens and the earth and all that is between the two in accordance with the requirements of truth and wisdom. The Hour is surely coming. So overlook [their faults] with gracious forgiveness. 85 verily, thy Sustainer is the all-knowing Creator of all things! 86 We have indeed given you the seven oft-repeated (examples), and the majestic Qur'an. 87 [so] turn, not thine eyes [longingly] towards the worldly benefits which We have granted unto some of those [that deny the truth]. And neither grieve over those [who refuse to heed thee,] but spread the wings of thy tenderness over the believers, 88 and say, "I am, indeed, a plain warner," 89 (Of just such wrath) as We sent down on those who divided (Scripture into arbitrary parts),- 90 those who had split up their Qur'an into pieces. 91 Therefore, by the Lord, We will, of a surety, call them to account, 92 For all that they used to do. 93 Preach what you have been commanded to and stay away from the pagans. 94 Indeed, We are sufficient for you against the mockers 95 Who make [equal] with Allah another deity. But they are going to know. 96 And surely We know that your breast straitens at what they say; 97 But celebrate the praises of thy Lord, and be of those who prostrate themselves in adoration. 98 And serve your Lord until there comes to you that which is certain. 99
