So did you observe him who turned away? 33 And gave little, and then stopped? 34 Is with him the knowledge of the unseen so that he sees? 35 Has he not heard what is contained in the Book of Moses, 36 And of Abraham who fulfilled his engagements?- 37 that no bearer of burdens shall be made to bear another's burden; 38 nor can man achieve anything without hard labor. 39 and that in time [the nature of] all his striving will be shown [to him in its true light,] 40 whereupon he shall be requited for it with the fullest requital; 41 And that thy Lord, He is the goal; 42 and that it is He alone who causes [you] to laugh and to weep; 43 And that it is He who causes death and gives life 44 and He it is Who created the two kinds, the male and the female, 45 from a discharged living germ 46 And that upon Him is another bringing forth. 47 That it is He who makes you rich and contented; 48 and that it is He alone who sustains the brightest star; 49 That it was He who destroyed the 'Ad of old, 50 and Thamood, sparing no one, 51 And the people of Nuh before; surely they were most unjust and inordinate; 52 And the subverted cities He overthrew. 53 and then covered them from sight forever. 54 So O listener! Which favour of your Lord will you doubt? 55 This is a warning just like those of former times. 56 The threatened Hour is nigh. 57 none except Allah can disclose it. 58 Do ye then wonder at this recital? 59 And will you laugh and not weep? 60 And ye are behaving proudly. 61 Bow instead in adoration before God and worship Him. ۩ 62
