Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhammad) wrapped, 1 Keep vigil the night long, save a little - 2 half the night, or a little less 3 Or increase thereto. And intone the Qur'an with measured intonations. 4 For we shall charge thee with a word of weight. 5 Indeed getting up in the night is tougher, and the words flow with strength. 6 Verily there is for thee by day occupation prolonged. 7 So remember the name of thy Lord and devote thyself with a complete devotion - 8 (He Alone is) the Lord of the east and the west, La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He). So take Him Alone as Wakil (Disposer of your affairs). 9 And bear thou with patience whatsoever they say, and depart from them with a becoming departure. 10 And leave them to Me – these wealthy deniers – and give them some respite. 11 Verily, with Us are fetters (to bind them), and a raging Fire. 12 And food which choketh (the partaker), and a painful doom 13 On the day when the earth and the mountains shall quake and the mountains shall become (as) heaps of sand let loose. 14 We have sent you a Messenger, who will witness your deeds, just as We sent a Messenger to the Pharaoh. 15 But Firon disobeyed the apostle, so We laid on him a violent hold. 16 Then how, if ye disbelieve, will ye protect yourselves upon the day which will turn children grey, 17 [the Day] on which the skies shall be rent asunder, [and] His promise [of resurrection] fulfilled? 18 Surely this is a reminder, then let him, who will take the way to his Lord. 19
