Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection. 1 Nay! I swear by the self-accusing soul. 2 What, does the human think We shall never gather his bones? 3 Yes, We are Able to put together in perfect order the tips of his fingers. 4 But man would fain deny what is before him. 5 he asks, "When is this Day of Resurrection to be?" 6 So when vision is dazzled 7 And the moon is buried in darkness. 8 and the sun and the moon are brought together, 9 That Day will Man say: "Where is the refuge?" 10 By no means! NO refuge! 11 Unto thy Lord is the recourse that day. 12 Upon that day man shall be told his former deeds and his latter; 13 Nay! Man will be a witness against himself [as his body parts (skin, hands, legs, etc.) will speak about his deeds]. 14 in spite of all the excuses he may offer. 15 O dear Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), do not cause your tongue to move along with the Qur’an in order to learn it faster. 16 We shall be responsible for its collection and its recitation. 17 When We recite it, follow its recitation (by Us). 18 Again on Us (devolves) the explaining of it. 19 But no. You love this transient life, 20 And neglect the Hereafter. 21 Some faces will be radiant on that Day, 22 looking up to their Sustainer; 23 And some faces, that Day, will be Basirah (dark, gloomy, frowning, and sad), 24 thou mightest think the Calamity has been wreaked on them. 25 No indeed; when it reaches the clavicles 26 and it is said, 'Who is an enchanter?' 27 And he bethinketh that it is the time of parting. 28 And affliction is combined with affliction; 29 that will be the time to be driven to one's Lord. 30
