The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By those (angels) that pluck out the soul from depths, 1 by the drawers (the angels of death), gently drawing (the souls of the believers), 2 and float [through space] with floating serene, 3 Then those who are foremost going ahead, 4 by the managers (angels) affair. 5 The Day when the quaking will cause a violent convulsion, 6 followed by the succeeding, 7 (Some) hearts that Day will shake with fear and anxiety. 8 While eyes are downcast 9 They say: "Shall we go back to our original state 10 even though we may have become [a heap of] crumbling bones?" 11 They say: Then that would be a vain proceeding. 12 It will only be a single blast, 13 and behold, they are awakened. 14 Has there reached you the story of Moses? - 15 How his Lord called him in the holy vale of Tuwa, 16 (Saying:) Go thou unto Pharaoh - Lo! he hath rebelled - 17 And say to him, "Would you like to reform yourself? 18 and that I should guide thee to thy Lord, then thou shalt fear?"' 19 Moses showed him the great sign, 20 Yet he belied and disobeyed. 21 Further, he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, 23 and said, "I am your Lord All-Highest!" 24 So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. 25 Indeed in this is a lesson for one who fears. 26
