The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
(Muhammad), read in the name of your Lord who created (all things). 1 Createth man from a clot. 2 Read, for your Lord is most beneficent, 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 Teacheth man that which he knew not. 5 No! [But] indeed, man transgresses 6 In that he looketh upon himself as self-sufficient. 7 However, (all things) will return to your Lord. 8 What do you think? Have you seen he who forbids 9 A slave when he prayeth? 10 Have you considered if he were on the right way, 11 Or enjoins righteousness? 12 What is your opinion – if he denies and turns away, how wretched will be his state! 13 Does he, then, not know that God sees [all]? 14 No indeed; surely, if he gives not over, We shall seize him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinful forehead. 16 Then, let him call (for help) to his council (of comrades): 17 We shall call on the guards of Hell. 18 Nay, Obey not thou him. But prostrate thyself, and draw near (unto Allah). ۩ 19
God the Almighty always says the truth.
