The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the pluckers (the angels of death), violently plucking (the souls of the unbelievers), 1 And who softly release the soul. (Of the believer) 2 by the angels who float (in the heavens by the will of God), 3 and vie with the others (in carrying out their Lord's behests); 4 and by those who regulate events. 5 On the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world], 6 to be followed by further [convulsions], 7 hearts upon that day shall be athrob 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 They say: Shall we indeed be restored to (our) first state? 10 even after we are fragmented bones' 11 They say, "That, then, would be a losing return." 12 But it will be only a single blow, 13 And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface. 14 Hath there come unto thee the history of Moses? 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 Then say: Have you (a desire) to purify yourself: 18 Then I shall guide thee unto thy Lord so that thou shalt fear. 19 And he showed him the greatest sign, 20 but he denied it as false and disobeyed, 21 Then he quickly turned his back. 22 and gathered his people and declared: 23 Saying, "I am your Lord, Most High". 24 But Allah did punish him, (and made an) example of him, - in the Hereafter, as in this life. 25 In this there is a lesson for those who have fear of God. 26
